AC4 GT at OldtimAir!
As a modern tow plane, the AC4 GT does not actually fit to the OldtimAir. However, as an aircraft built in Nidwalden to tow the vintage glider "Pilatus B-4" - which was also once built in Nidwalden - directly from Buochs up to the Stanserhorn, it fits very well!
We are very pleased to be able to present the AC4 GT and its convincing climb performance to a wider audience for the first time as the opening act.
We and the Organising Committee OldtimAIR are looking forward to your visit!

On Wednesday 22 February 2023, our new AC4 GT took off from the runway in Buochs for the first time.

Project hydrogen powertrain Cellsius H2 with Light Wing
Light Wing AG consistently pursues the company philosophy of making flying more ecological and affordable. This is achieved by using state-of-the-art technology. The AC4 is equipped with the latest engine technology and avionics, simplest operation, maintenance-friendly design, robust and high-quality construction and exceptionally safe flight characteristics.
Our next step is therefore by no means surprising and shows how seriously the company philosophy is pursued at Light Wing AG.
Together with mechanical and electrical engineering students from ETH Zurich, we are working on the vision of operating climate-neutral, efficient and sustainable aircraft in the coming years.
The Cellsius Project H2 is conducting research on an alternative hydrogen powertrain to power a light aircraft in the future. The powertrain consists of the fuel cell system, the e-motor, tank, buffer batteries and corresponding power control systems. The entire drive train with accompanying system will be optimised for the Light Wing AC4 and will serve as a test platform.
As a Central Swiss company, we are delighted to be part of this innovative project.

We are happy to establish a sales Partnership for Poland. Lightwing welcomes GB Aircraft from Warsaw as our local dealer. GB Aircraft is a highly professional dealer and CAMO/Part 145 service provider with a wide aircraft portfolio. With the products from Light Wing, they are expanding and rounding off their portfolio with the high-wing 600kg MTOW class excellently. We wish the entire team a successful start with our excellent aircraft AC4, an airplane built in Switzerland.

Welcome on board!
Andreas Schenk has joined Lightwing in order to strengthen our sales team, beside of Robert Woodtli.
Andreas is a passionate pilot since many years, highly active in glider towing and was most recently Vice President Sales and member of the management board at Komax. Komax is a globally well known manufacturer of wire processing equipment. He brings more than 30 years of experience in global sales of investment goods.

Lightwing @ Oshkosh 2022
In cooperation with Comp Air Aviation (Booth 369), we will be presenting the AC4 in person to the American public for the first time from July 25 - 31, 2022. Strong Swiss quality for rough, unpaved runways and good performance even in hot & high conditions makes the AC4 an attractive LSA aircraft in the USA as well.

A short while ago the required static strength tests of the modified airframe for glider tow missions of the AC4 GT have been successfully completed.

We are very happy about the great interest at our booth and already looking forward to the to new, happy AC4 pilots! All registered interested parties will be contacted by us shortly.
We are also very pleased about the great consent of our for the first time publicly presented prototype of the AC4 GT - the inexpensive workhorse in the field of glider towing. It goes now intensively forward and in not too long time into the flight test phase!

Approval of AC4-UL successful!
Shortly before the year is out , we were happy to receive the certificate for the type approval of the AC4-UL from «Deutschen Ultraleichtfliegerverband e.V.» (DULV) (German Ultralight Aviation Association). With this milestone we are ready for the first orders from Germany and other countries with acceptance of the DULV approvals.
The AC4-UL is based on our AC4-LSA with a renewed, innovative cockpit and has also the parachute rescue system as prescribed for UL aircrafts.

We will be on site with the AC4 at the fly-in of the Traunsee Aviation Club at the beginning of September at the Gmunden airfield in Upper Austria's Salzkammergut.

Successful test of ballistic recovery system
In April we tested the Junkers Magnum 601 total rescue system in the AC4 with a rocket launch.
Thanks to perfect planning, everything worked as expected and so we took an important step forward in the approval as UL 600 kg..

«With 3 AC4 we took part in the FLUBAG excursion and flew from Buochs, Buttwil and Beromünster via Dôle, Nevers and Poitiers to the Atlantic coast to La Rochelle.
We covered the 430 NM with constantly increasing headwind in 5:20 hrs. For the return flight we only needed 4:50 hrs on FL095 with a pleasantly supporting tailwind. With the Dynon Skyview and tabletdock it was easy to recognize and fly around the many control and restricted zones.»
